2:30-7:30: Interior room of Small After All World is closed
to public, and safety perimeter is established. Trenches for wiring are
dug. Cable for light and sound rolled out, and sound/light supports
erected. Pyrotechnic rigging begins. Area affected
by pyro could be altered by high winds. |
6:00-7:00: Truck with PA and sound control arrives in place
(blue rectangle) and sound/lighting
installed. Staging corridor (yellow area)
barricaded off for crew. Small blue squares represent PA horns.
Cyan squares are possible additional
speakers. From 6:30 on a tape featuring countless versions of the
Small World theme drone on and on. Red
dots are 500 watt show lights (powered by truck generator).
Lights are not turned on until the RALLY. Installation remains
lit by normal 24-hour display lights throughout Flag Burning prior to Rally.
Blue X is central control from which
electrical detonations initiated (powered by battery located at central
control). Cacophony provides fire extinguishers (at least three)
at points indicated by orange dots. |
7:40-8:10: An Anti Nationalist Flag Burning is held
for EARLY arrivals. Small replicas of national flags will
be distributed to spectators in front rows and burned in an elevated brazier
(red "O") 70 feet in front of
the Small World facade. After burning their flag, audience members
return behind the safety perimeter. An Anti-nationalist Mousist
Politico played by Bob Moss (purple "B")
circulates around front perimeter ranting through bullhorn or cordless
mic about Chairman Mouse and the Small World Order. Bob is lit either
by one of three show lights or traveling spotlight. His speech is
punctuated by snare drum riffs provided by Rich Polysorbate.
Planted in the front row of crowd are Singers (green
"s") costumed in stereotypical nationalist costumes like the
dolls in the ride. They may aid in distributing flags to crowd, and
then emerge from the throng eventually urged forward by Bob.
They join hands in unity and stand singing where depicted above.
(Singers remain holding hands and singing during the subsequent rally).
In preparation for rally brazier is moved out of way. |
8:10-8:15: At showtime facade is suddenly illuminated with
all three show lights. Pre-recorded musical fanfare and announcement
accompanies illumination. Tape is stopped and Black Rock Marching
Band (Purple arrows) enters show
area parting their way through center of crowd, playing Small World theme.
(Singers sing along naturally.) Band is preceded by
Mousist Standard Bearers who step to side to stand at attention
and plant imperial
Roman style (Italian Fascist) standards in positions shown
(gold "o"s). The band is
followed by two sets of Banner Bearers, marching side by side.
As the band exits and continues to play the theme just "off stage," (at
purple "X") the Banner Bearers unfurl
2 banners with messages, "Hail Chairman Mouse" and "Small World Order."
Band completes song. There is a moment of relative silence during
which the ticking of the clock in the tower becomes ominous and bomb-like.
Two side lights are killed leaving only clock tower illuminated.
Singers, Standard Bearers, and Banner Bearers turn
to face clock tower.
|
8:15-8:16: "Crazy Clock" haywire music sequence begins. Pink
doors under clock tower slowly open (by Door puppeteers (green
"Ds") pulling wires from behind safety perimeter).
Filling the doorway is the face of Mickey Maus. All performers kneel
at this revalation. As soon as last knee is
bent Maus head explodes in electrically ignited fireball. Banners
and Standards are dropped, and all performers scramble behind safety perimeter.
Death puppeteer (green "P")
tugs on rope activating counterweighted Figure of Death
Puppet, which springs like a jack-in-the-box up over the clock tower.
Death (wearing a mousekateer hat) wobbles menacingly a good 10 feet over
16 foot clocktower as Disneyland "Crazy Clock" music transitions into distorted
Small World sound collage which continues throughout burn. |
8:16-8:17: Puppet's chest is filled with propane balloons.
It is either ignited electrically or passively by sparking fireworks nearby.
Fireball is indicated by orange circle.
Black match fuses pass fire laterally in both directions from central clock
tower within twenty seconds, igniting a number of fireworks, propane balloons,
and flashpots of powder on the way. |
8:17-8:30: Structure continues to burn and more fireworks
and flashpots are passively ignited by flames. Kerosene priming of
structure insures that it is hastily engulfed. Towards 8:50 a series
of largish mortars (red ovals)
slightly behind structure are ignited. They are followed by "Big
Bertha," our largest mortar, which should produce a towering mushroom
cloud (orange circle) bringing the
show to a climax. As the structure continues to burn and collapse,
the hellish tone of the sound collage gives way to a sickeningly mellow
soul artist's vocal rendition of the song, indicating that the nightmare
has passed and the nightmare continues.
If agreed upon, the Black Rock Marching Band may strike up
the funeral march to lead spectators on to Woodpussy's "funeral" for G.
Don Wetumka. |
